چکیده

The aim of present study was to find out the influence of oxygen and nitrogen containing ethanolamine oligomers on the tribological behavior. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) was used to obtain insight into the molecular mechanisms leading to the macroscopic lubricity. Monomolecular lubricant films were deposited onto ultra thin copper films sputtered onto silicon wafers. Surfaces covered with the three ethanolamine oligomers were investigated by XPS before and after tribological tests, performed with the translatorily oscillating test machine and Falex micro-tribometer. The structure of the molecular film is elucidated using angular resolved X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy with a prototype preparation chamber, permitting the transfer of samples from liquid to the analysis chamber under Helium protective gas preventing exposure to ambient conditions. Solutions with a concentration of 250 ppm of the respective ethanolamine oligomers in double distilled water were transferred into the adsorption device, which is an extension of the spectrometer. Results show that compounds bond to copper and steel surface by N atom present in ammonia group and hydroxyl group are oriented on the top layer of tribofilm, this highest group influence lubricity properties. & 2009 Elsevier Ltd. Interactions between retinal and phospholipids in monomolecular films at acid pH.

The surface properties of mixed monomolecular films of retinal and phospholipids (p. lipids) are measured as a function of mole fraction at a nitrogen-water interface. An acid pH of 6.0 is maintained in the aqueous phase. Before irradiation the surface potential deltaV for 9-cis retinal, 11-cis retinal, phosphatidyl serine (PS) and phosphatidyl ethanolamine (PE), at pi=12 dyn/cm, are 490 mV, 64...

Surface Chemistry in Tribology

Introduction In general, the twentieth century marked the first major incursion of chemists into the world of tribology. Driven partly by the need for improved lubricants for new machines developed in the first few decades of the century, and partly by new analytical capabilities, lubricant chemists and tribochemists were to become full partners in the science of tribology. In this review we co...

Mixed monomolecular films of chlorophyll and cytochromes.

Mixed monomolecular films of cytochrome (Cyt) and chlorophyll (Chl) were spread at a nitrogen-water interface. A large interaction is observed between reduced Cyt f and Chl a in a mixed film. Oxidized Cyt f and Chl a in a mixed film show little evidence for interaction. Mixed monomolecular films of Chl a with either reduced or oxidized Cyt c appears to result in denaturation of the protein at t...

A review of monomolecular surface films as larvicides and pupicides of mosquitoes.

Commercially available monomolecular surface films (Arosurf MSF and Agnique MMF, non-ionic products) are utilized as larvicides and pupicides of mosquitoes. They are biodegradable and spread spontaneously over the surface of the water to form an ultra-thin film (monomolecular layer), about one molecule in thickness. Their mode of action against mosquito larvae and pupae is physical rather than ...

Vapor lubricant transport in MEMS devices

Vapor phase lubrication is considered one of the most likely means of lubricating MEMS devices with replenishable solid films. Since gas phase diffusion is the primary means of vapor lubricant transport into the long, narrow channels of MEMS devices, it is necessary to determine that this is sufficient to replenish lubricant films worn at high rates. The diffusion of vapor phase lubricant into ...
